Wonderful flower portraiture (also very stately when reproduced in black and white). But it is not our interest in botany or floral arrangement that draws our attention while the illustrations from a biology textbook or nursery catalog do not Given the artist’s notoriety and the fact that he often exhibited them in small groupings of two or more combined with his more explicit subject matter, these photographs even when viewed apart from the rest become imbued with an intense submerged eroticism unparalleled in the annals of horticulture.
