He was all over the internet and the news, i think even Cnn a while back. Matthew Harding became famous with his “crazy dance”. Not only that, but he visited about 42 and recorded himself doing that exact same dance over and over again in all those countries.

And on that way, he met a lot of people that helped him. As i remember he made arrangements to also meet people and record the dance with them over forums etc. It was a really nice project. I have seen it before just not in HD which makes a big difference!

There is a lot of heart in this video from all around the world. And it kinda makes you think about the positive things and feelings. It makes you happy. that’s it, end of story

I know you’ll really enjoy viewing his video and it may even bring couple of good smiles to your face.

Quite some time ago, Sony promoted their Bravia lcd’s with a really unique ad where they used a lot of paint that was blown up all around the place somewhere in Great Britain. It was a big event where a lot of people came to the place and were looking at how the ad was made. It had absolutely no CG in it.

Today Sony made a new ad for promotion of the Bravia LCD’s with their known slogan “Colors like no other”. This time they used domino to make it look really good. I didn’t check out if this was made with real domino parts but i think it’s Coputer Generated (CG).

Anyway again, they have made a impressive ad that gets a lot of buzz over the internet. I love all these colors and how each domino block has it’s own color.

I try to get my inspiration and new ideas from all kinds of media and people doing all kinds of stuff. One of them is also skateboarding. Now what does a skateboarder and a designer have in common? Well Gou Miyagi is a crazy skateboarder from Japan and he has a lot of things every designer should have so there are a lot of things that we can learn from him.

I know you’ll say that skateboarding doesn’t have anything to do with design, oh but it does. First check out his video.

Pretty neat ha? There are some scenes that would make you stop the video, but if you didn’t do it we can continue now. Each time i see something like this, i try to enjoy it a lot, then i watch it again and try to find things that i can learn. Now from Gou Miyagi as a person, you can learn a lot.

How many times did he fall down? How many of them looked really painful? Yeah the answer is a lot, but at the end, he finished the trick he had imagined. That’s really important for a designer too, each time you get knocked down, you need to learn how to get up and do it again. I know this isn’t written in the video, but it’s there!

He used a variety of elements to use when skateboarding, the pipes to grind, the board itself and him on it. He used those things in a really creative and unique way. He thought outside the box, he went for something others didn’t do or think of and won. And example would be grinding the chain. He fell really hard there, got up, did it again and again until he made it perfect. So the next thing i learned was also to do something other wouldn’t, don’t copy but start with a idea even if it’s “stupid” at the beginning.

The third thing would be fun! Easy thing as being helped from a friend to grind that long rail was a great thing. Try to work in groups, more people that love to work something usually make great things and it’s more fun!

Those are just some things i’ve learned from watching this video. Try to find more and tell me, what else did you see/find?

I don’t look at much tv and for that there are reasons like time, boring program and those long tv commercials. But not looking at much tv, makes me watch only good programs and the stations and it’s easier to find good ones. The reason for that are in my opinion TV Station ID’s, you know, those few seconds you see before commercials or after.

Usually when i scroll through channels i catch those and if i like it. I stay on that channel and see what will it air. You can also see if the whole network has good or bad shows and content. Catching more people to look a show more equals more $$$ since they can sell those seconds or airtime at higher prices. PRO 7 is one of my favorite German tv channels and they got some nice station IDs, that are made in a funny way with the people you see on their Comedy shows etc. Concept and the idea are easy but they give much quality to the brand and name of the whole network company.

Here is a really good and funny Station ID that made me laugh and would keep me on that channel for longer. I love human beat-boxes, especially if they look like people you see from your daily life on a street enjoying music.

There are 2 types of tilt shifting photography, real and “fake”. The real one is made with a tilt-shifting lens that takes pictures of miniature sets of landscape or urban places like town of crossroads that were made and modeled by hand. Another type of this kind photography is done with the the illusion of a miniature world which is actually photographed from above with the same lens and after some good post production you get the similar look which is sometimes even more interesting.

The tilt shifting lens let’s you create blurry images that are tricking our eye as an optical illusion ignoring the blurry part of the image.

The “fake” tilt shifting photography is a method of using a photograph and Photoshop to manipulate the image so you get the same effect. It works well and is for all of those people who don’t have money for buying a tilt shift lens, but would like to try out the technique.

I will me making and posting a Tilt Shifting tutorial with Photoshop tomorrow so make sure you come back or subscribe to my rss .

One of the things every designer can do, either to get hid name out, get exposure, show off his work or even make some money, are the T-Shirt selling sites. There are some very well known like Threadless and there is a new one called Desired Hearts.

The one thing i really like about them is that they are giving away $2 from each T-shirt they sold to charity. Why would someone do something like this? Because it’s a right thing to do. It’s also a nice thing for the brand name since it brings lots of good points to them. The site is still in beta and it needs some help from you too.

Even if you don’t do illustrations, you should check out their site, because they have a really good behind the scenes video on how they did some of the photos used for promotion of the site. This is a really good way to attract people for them and to learn something new for you. A win/win situation.

Also join them on myspace or facebook to show some support!

I’m a really big fan of all things organic. Organic as in a way that things can be visualized with curly lines instead of only straight ones. Millions of colors instead of black and white. The dynamics and the energy that follow a natural path, that is unpredictable and can surprise you in and instant.

Jellyfish are one of those being that are 100% organic, and when they “dance” you can see all the pretty colors, movement, figure and shapes mixed in a harmonically way that you could watch it all day. It’s calm and with the combination of water bring some peace in our soul breaking the daily routine and bringing us to something beautiful.

The thing that i also adore today and isn’t organic is the technology that helps us view the Jellyfish in High-definition and the macro option is a big thumbs up too.

Join the dance of the Jellyfish, just don’t touch them if you ever see them in water

I see a lot of commercials and ads today that use motion graphics and cg. Most of them i really like since there is a lot of hard work put in those 30 seconds. A lot of them are creative and have a idea behind it which makes the viewer like the product or even buy it. And that’s the purpose of ads.

Now some other ads in a niche like that washing powder and cleaning chemicals are mostly the same. Left is the default product, and right is our great and new product which really makes a difference. I’m gonna write a tutorial in the next days on how this ads work. Especially the ones where they go over a bath tub with a sponge and it’s super clean and even whiter! It’s just a illusion and a lie and most such ads don’t even hide it. Poorly made ads to trick the common viewer.

Anyway today’s post is about a very well made ad that will make you watch it couple of times and each time you’ll enjoy it. The Ford Fiesta ad/commercial. Watch closely the people, the motion, everything! The heartbeat on the screens and other elements, every frame is well planned. And elements are used to please the eye of the viewer. Even the music is well chosen. A true harmony.
