Writing emails for link exchange and trading

Link Exchange is one of the best ways of ranking your site or page higher on the search engines. In my opinion this is the hardest part of any SEO method. Finding a relevant site with high PR can be easy, but the real problem comes when you want to exchange links with it. Emailing is usually the best and fastest way of doing that.

When making link exchanges you really want to trade links with sites that have high PR. These sites aren’t most of the time spammy and are updated daily. Meaning as they grow, the backlink to your site will also get stronger overtime. This way your own site or page will get stronger in serps too. But how should you write the email to them?

There are various ways of sending out emails like persuading, begging, threating etc. Most of the time these won’t even give you a reply. Now my method is a nicer one and i name it “Kiss ass - link exchange method”. Now here is how it works:

You need to find a good site, checkwhat it’s about (relevancy to your site is important), then check the PageRank (if it’s more then 4, go for it) Also check how long it’s up, if a site is online for a year and has pr3 and isn’t updated daily you really don’t want to bother getting the link.

I personally recommend finding blogs that ordinary people write. Some of these have pr5-6 or even 7. Now in my experience this method works very well with these people. Check if they have a blogroll and to whom they are sending links to.

Next step is to read their recent and a nice maybe older post. Write them down, maybe even the links to your notepad. If they have a nice logo or their own pic, remember that one too. Gather info that is good about their site. Also find their Name!

Here is the second important step after gathering this information, open your mail program and start writing a email. Subject: Try to use something catchy like:

“Hey, i really love your blog!”

or

“You have a nice blog there”.

I bit of praise and kind words should go here definitely.

The first important step is the email as itself. Start writing something like this:

For more understanding of the form below these characters “( )” mean that you need to add some information you gathered earlier. “{}” these are my comments.

Hello (name of the blogger) {just the name, no surname, keep it non formal as you know him already - well you do kinda, from his blog!},

i’ve been reading your blog for quite some time and i just wanted to say that i really enjoy reading your posts. My favorite was the (enter the name or add the link to his older post you read) i really liked it because (add your thoughts, maybe even experience from your life etc.) {this will show that you are regular reader and been to his blog for quite a while, he’ll listen to you more now. 1 point for you!}.

I really like your logotype {if he has one, talk about it, praise it, tell them you love it}, it looks very clean and professional, did you make it? {another point for you, everyone likes praise for their work and they can’t have it enough}

By the way you inspired me to make a blog myself too. And it would be great if you could take a look and give me some comments and guidelines on it - (insert a link to your blog here). {he now knows you are his loyal reader, a FAN, he should take time and look at your blog. You have to have content on it and a good design - use some of my freebie wordpress themes for this, they help! Also it’s good that you already have a link on your blogroll to this blogger, something like “Link - must read blog!” or “Link - great blog”, he will see it and you got another point or two}.

{Notice the email is a bit longer and i still haven’t talked about trading links? Well it’s because we turned all the attention to him, he is the center on this email, not your link exchange, that’s why we haven’t even named it once, but now is the time…}

Also would it be possible if we could exchange links? That would be great! {just that, you don’t need much, remember this email is about him, not you}

Keep up the good work!

Regards,

(inser your name)

And that’s it. You’re finished and now you just need to wait for the reply. I got pretty good results this way. For example i’ve send about 10 such emails to 10 bloggers all of them had pr 5,6,7 sites. And i got links from about 6 of them. This is a amazing result. Results may get different from the relevancy and the bloggers too. You just need to find good ones.

I know this link exchange method may sound unmoral using it, but hey… you want to get a link exchange right? Also, you did tell the truth, you also didn’t lie to him for getting it, you have read his blog/posts and you did like things that were there. This may still be a topic for debate though…
