Each webmaster has it’s own set of tools that he uses and thinks they are needed, i have my own. I use quite some of them each day, for tracking, analyzing and other similar stuff that could bring me more traffic or make it a bit more targeted.
Here is a set of my webmaster and SEO tools:
- Digitalpoint suggestion - My favorite free keyword suggestion tool.
- Rank Checker - checks your rank on a search engine for a term or keyword you specify
- PageRank Prediction - predicts your PageRank what will occur on the next update. It’s also pretty accurate in my experience. (seems like it isn’t working at the moment, could be because msn isn’t displaying backlinks)
- www.iotaweb.org - shows the average pay per click on adsense and similar ppc programs for keywords you specify
- Backlink Builder - Link Exchange is the second most important thing in SEO (first is content), this tool finds and displays RELEVANT sites that have link exchange script running so it’s easier to make reciprocal exchanges.
- Backlink Anchor text checker - Check your anchor text in links that link to you.
- Google Ranking Factors - Ok, this isn’t a tool, but it is THE BEST SEO GUIDE out there. Almost everything is here! A MUST BOOKMARK
- Free Webmaster Tools - A list of SEO tools
- List of 136 Seo tools - Another list of 136 free seo tools
- http://kwbrowse.com - Keyword researcher for relevant topics/niches
- www.crazyegg.com - View a heatmap and track clicks that are made on your site - AMAZING SOFTWARE AND VERY USEFUL!
Also i have some nice Wordpress plugins that make my blogging easier and more powerful. These are:
- Akismet - best antispam plugin available.
- Dagon Design Sitemap Generator Sitemap, a must have for SEO purposes
- Fuzzy Recent Posts - Get’s your newest posts, helpful for better crawling and faster indexing in search engines.
- Google (XML) Sitemaps -Build a xml sitemap, and if you use it with Google Webmaster tools you’ll get some nice stats and also the correct backlinks number google has for your site, you can see these with basic tools.
- Search Meter - know what people search on your site! If they don’t find the post, write it!
- Social Bookmarks - easier social bookmarking.
- WP lightbox 2 - the sexy image viewer.
