Getting your first blog and setting it up

If you have read my previous article about choosing a right niche/topic for blogging you may have already chosen a nice topic to write on. And now, you really want to start blogging right? But dunno where and how to start? Well this article will help you.

Now there are two good ways of you starting your blog experience. Each of them has some advantages and disadvantages so you will have to make a choice which one you prefer or need. The two choices are, getting your blog for free, or try to invest some money in it. Now i will try to explain all the things you need to know for both choices.

Getting your blog for free

Now i suggest the free blog services for every really new blogger. As in REALLY new i mean that you don’t have any knowledge of HTML as in source code etc. Or if you don’t know how to install a simple blog software using MySQL etc. (more about this below) Anyway, these blogs are very easy to use and setup, so you can start to blog in couple of minutes.

A big disadvantage is, that if you blog on some sensitive topics, like politics and stuff like that, your blog will be removed and you will lose it for good. Now imagine that you had the blog for about a year or two and have made daily posts to it, it got really popular and than they suspend and remove it. All your hard work would be gone in some seconds.

Another smaller disadvantages are, that you also don’t have that much control over the content such as images, videos, podcasts etc. And also there can be plug-ins problem which is one of the most important parts of successful bloggers.

Some of the most popular sites, that offer free blog sites are Blogger.com and Wordpress.com. All you need to do is to just signup and you’re done. There is also a lot of help on blogging there.

Getting your own blog

Now getting your own blog can be a bit more work to do, but, you will have full control over it. Now, there are some expenses like, buying a domain and a hosting. A domain costs $7.99 per year at powerpipe.com. Hosting can be a bit tough though, if you have lot’s of daily traffic, you will need a good hosting, but for starters, there are some offers like the $10.00 per year at ayksolutions.com. So it really isn’t that much.

Now paying for these two things is the disadvantage i told about before. Now i really suggest, that if you go for this choice, you use the famous software Wordpress. It is easy to install since there are step by step guides and help files. But the most important thing is, it’s very powerful and it has everything that you need for having a successful and secure blog. The plug-ins for it are amazing and they can do lot’s of stuff that the free blogs can’t do.
